- PAN and Aadhaar (linked)
- Bank account details (pre-validated on the e-filing portal for refunds)
- Form 26AS and Annual Information Statement (AIS) from the income tax portal
- Interest certificates from banks and post office
Salaried employees
- Form 16 from your employer (Part A and Part B)
- Salary slips, especially if you changed jobs during the year
- Rent receipts and landlord PAN (for HRA above ₹1 lakh a year) — old regime
- Investment proofs: PPF, ELSS, LIC, NPS, health insurance — old regime
- Home-loan interest certificate
Investors
- Capital gains statements from your broker and mutual fund RTAs (CAMS / KFintech)
- Property sale or purchase deeds
- Dividend statements
Freelancers and business owners
- Profit & loss account and balance sheet (or turnover details for presumptive taxation)
